3 Months!

Three months ago today...
I was in pain and agony at the oh-so-horrible hospital (aka MCA) getting bags of fluids and watching "Sunshine Cleaning Company" waiting for Elise to be born.

Here is her monthly picture with her bear friend:

I know, she is actually wearing an 'outfit' and not just sleeper onsie. I mean, what's the point of dressing up an infant, really? When you gotta change a diaper 7 or 8 times a day, convenience is the key. But I was feeling saucy and put her in pants and a shirt.

What is she doing now?

Eating... sleeping... making diapers...
She is really starting to babble- a lot! Squealing, babbling, just because she can.
She loves diaper changes.
She is starting to hold on to things more now. Mainly her clothes, and bibs and blankets. You can put a toy in her hand and she holds in for awhile.
She loves to chew on her hands. They are delicious if I do say so myself. I mean, I did make them for her and all...
Her sleeping is still pretty good. She isn't 100% consistent with sleeping a full 10-11 hours every night. She has one or 2 nights a week she might wake up after about 8 hours for a feeding, then she babbles herself to sleep. But usually, she goes to sleep around 8, and will sleep until 6 or 7.

Just being a baby... nothing really new. She isn't walking or anything exciting like that yet. She goes back to the Dr next month for some more shots, so I will see how much she weighs then.

I got nothin'

I got nothing to really blog about. Obviously, I haven't posted in awhile.
Probably because I started back at work last week. Boo!
It's not bad really. I have been so busy that time seems to fly by. I am rushing just so I can try to make it out of there on time. Then trying to find time to get in a workout, and eat dinner, and hang out with David, and do some laundry, and do this, and do that and on and on it goes.
So since I don't have much, guess I will throw out some pictures... I will look at my blog throughout the day at work just to look at pictures of my little sweet sweets. David is off work this month with her for his 'paternity leave' so I am lucky when he sends me pictures too.

Just her checking out her cute little friend on her carseat attachment thingy for her to look at.

Meeting Lucy

Just hanging out during some tummy time. She totally rolled over from her tummy to her back a couple of times, but now she is so over it and hasn't done it since. Whew! Not ready for her to move around! haha

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

First, she thought I was crazy...

But then she got into the hat...

Calling in Sick

I would have liked to call in sick today, but my boss is a real stinker about that. Meet my boss:

Our conversation went something like this
"HI... Elise? Yeah, I don't think I will be able to play mommy today. See I got this cold, and a headache and really just need some sleep"

"Ummm... yeah. Sorry to hear about that. I really am, but I have a schedule to stick to. We have bicycles to ride, I need food, don't even get me started on the diapers..."

So.. I change diapers. I feed bottles. I sing her favorite bicycle song ( in a really croaky voice ). At least she let me get a 3 hour nap this morning!

And because I am THAT mom, that posts embarrassing pictures:

2 Months Old!

Two months ago today, I was in pain and agony, watching movies in my hospital bed, and having David sneak me animal crackers, waiting for this little one to be born.

She is getting bigger and sweeter each day! She went for her 2 month check-up and shots yesterday. I was all worried about seeing her cry and in pain, but she took it like a champ. I am sure I am a mean mommy for giggling at how red her face got from her 10 seconds of crying. Poor thing. I think her feelings were hurt more than anything. But she cried for all of 10 seconds and was back to cooing and smiling right away. Put her back in the car seat and passed out for awhile.

Here are her stats:

Weight: 12 pounds 10 ounces Chunky Monkey! 90th percentile
Height 23 and 1/2 inches 80th percentile

I never understood the whole 'percentile' thing. The Dr basically said, if we had 10 two month old girls in a row, she would weigh more than 9 of them, something like that. She is height weight proportionate, so that's good. I am sure if she had pooped before the appointment, she would have weighed a pound less. But I told that little girl to hold it in until after the weigh in. We gotta get good numbers! Teaching her how to competitively cheat early. I mean if the guy from the Biggest Loser can chug 2 gallons of water before his weigh in to throw the numbers, why can't my 2 month old hold her poop?? Joking of course.

Anyways.

What does she do besides eat (obviously) and sleep and make diapers?

*She smiles and really wants to laugh. I can get a 'HA" and holds her mouth open and breathes loudly , but waiting for the "HAHAHAHAHA" She is getting really close!

*She is doing pretty good on her sleeping at night. Lately she has been going down around 8 and sleeps anywhere between 3 and 4. Eats, then sleeps until around 6:45 or 7. Some nights she will wake at 2, but usually it has been between 3 and 4.

*She has her fussy time in the evening. Just in time for when David gets home, she starts to be fussy. She wakes up in the afternoon around 3 or 4, eats, and will fight sleep until about 8. And she will fuss and be all "Look at me! Talk to me! Hold me! Put me down! Pick me up! Feed me! No more food! Swaddle me! Unswaddle me!" The Dr said she is right there with about 98% of other parents of a 2 month old and it should get better around 3 to 4 months. So enjoy a glass of wine for our sanity and just hold her, or swing her, or take her for a walk or car ride, or put her in her car seat on the drier (while holding it of course).

*She is holding her head up more and more. I am not the best at consistently doing tummy time. Whatever. When I hold her facing me she works at holding her head up and doesn't want to lay her head on my shoulder. She just wants to look at everything.

*She has discovered her right ear. She is always tugging and pulling at it. I was all worried she was getting an ear infection or something. But the Dr said it looks fine. She does it while feeding or tired. He says it is her way to pacify herself. I just have to keep her nails filed down because she keeps scratching it all up!

How's mommy doing?

Well I am easing back into work, by working a short week next week, then off the following week, then officially back on the 7th. My mom will keep her Monday and Tuesday and David is off the rest of the week. Of course I am sad to leave her. I am glad to do some work, but I want to be with her. If only there were like 30 or 34 hours in a day to do it all.

I am still struggling with these last 8-10 pounds. Ugh! Yes I know, it has only been 8 weeks. But I don't want those pounds getting all happy and comfortable and buying real estate on my hips. This is merely a vacation site for you 8 pounds! Now go away! Ever want motivation to lose weight? Take a 'before' picture in your undies. Totally motivating.

Physically I have been doing great since about 3 weeks after the birth. Mentally, well, you have seen the pictures of her in the amish outfit. I think I have post-partum-insanity. Ah well, things could be worse.

Some pics of the little boogie!

I just love that little nose!

Dragonfly in the sky....

First off, we love this Fisher Price Zen Collection Swing. The chair can be removed to become her seat anywhere in the house without having to wake or disturb her if I need to take her upstairs while I shower. The chair can also face forward, or sideways in the swinging position so she can swing front to back, or left to right. Plus the colors are the most neutral and decor friendly we could find to go in our living room.

The few flaws:
Why can't the chair become a bouncy seat or vibrate or something on it's own? Probably because they sell a separate chair that does just that. They have to make money I guess. Whatever, pfft.

Why can't the mobile over head have a motor and rotate?
She really loves the animals and really tries to use some willpower to make them move. But they don't.

(Yes she is wearing her Halloween fleece footed onesie 2 weeks after Halloween. It's warm, and fits. Don't hate)

Her first friend was the dragon fly on this mobile. I think it was one of the first few things she would focus on and look and gaze at.

David started singing "Dragonfly in the sky... I can fly twice as hiiiigh... "

I was like, is that the Reading Rainbow song???

"Take a look, it's in a book! On reading rainbow.. reading rainbow..."
